Those public phone conversations

  1. The odd thing is that he's not crazy for thinking this way; he's crazy for thinking that the woman isn't going to stop jabbering idiotically about waffles just because he points out how pointless that is.

  3. I don't think I have seen you use this style of repeated picture before. It looks like you had a fun time with the grayscaling.

  4. howtheduck, you are correct that this was a new approach. Figures that right when I decided to try this, I had to deal with multiple technical issues! My tablet had died, so I was doing what I could without a tablet as I waited for the new one to arrive. Then when the tablet did arrive, I lost a whole day, when I found that GIMP and the tablet didn't seem to be talking to each other, beyond being able to open GIMP using the mouse pen. I even installed the trial version of Photoshop that came with the tablet, but that had its own problems (learning curve). Tried using Paint.NET, but lost too much image quality when I tried to copy layer by layer from my GIMP image.

In desperation, I did a system restore, going back a bit over a week for my restore point, and suddenly, GIMP and my tablet were on talking terms. And it occurred to me that my mistake was installing the drivers that came with the tablet. I had never done so before! And curiously, when I'd been searching online forums looking for a solution to my problem, I'd come across a post from someone who'd contacted Genius (the tablet manufacturer) about the same problem with GIMP. The reply this person had received was a suggestion to "invest in Photoshop"(!).

Anyway, I'm sure that was more than you ever wanted to know, but I was happy to have GIMP + tablet working again. :)
